There is another way – I believe maie way is hypno-birthing and I feel quite sad that I won’t ever get the chance to put it to the personal test myself, though I wait with excitement to see how it works for my friend in a few weeks time. I took this class and enjoyed the material. She seemed to only have one footnote in that entire chapter. It claims childbirth doesn’t hurt, at all, and if it hurts you, well that’s just because you’ve been conditioned for birth to hurt. But it did make the whole experience easier and more mqrie, at least up to a certain degree.

Even still, I do plan to practice the relaxation techniques, take the remaining recommendations with a grain of salt, and work toward an epidural-free, natural labor mariw.

There are very many videos of Mum’s have wonderfully peaceful, pain-free labours and deliveries using the method. I would much hypnobifthing recommend a breathing course, and a course in ALL birthing techniques. However, I should clarify that I did not buy in to all of the self-hypnosis techniques, and I found some of the language and the alternative vocabulary a little laughable.


I do believe that this book helped me prepare for childbirth though.

This book does mention the mom being aware of pressure or tightening but does not magie the incredible intensity that is part of labor and birth – the same intensity that makes it such an exhilarating experience in retrospect.

So, in a way, I agree with some of what she is saying. I This is the fourth or fifth time I have read this book. Now, I have done years of yoga, and I know that you can stay in control and breathe through pain, to a certain degree. I was terrified by hypnobjrthing delivery and when I was pregnant for the second time, I did some research online and found Mongan’s book.
