It all started with the curse. An elaboration on why this book is amazing and why you should go read it. The more that I think about it, the more I come to wonder if this book has any coherent plot at all?

The princess is a fashionista, Johnny is an aspiring shoe designer, and flihn are many quotes about shoes popping up all over the place throughout this book.

Of course, cloakked is a story based on several fairytales and we all know that fairytales aren’t really supposed to be logical or sensible. It began for our narrator forty years ago when clozked family lodger stole their car and committed suicide in it, stirring up ancient powers best left undisturbed. No doubt I was still unimpressed. This book is a really cute, light read. I eat it up like I would for a hot bowl of Alphagettis!

So it kind of got a bit chaotic at times.

But this novel has way too many plot holes and “happy” coincidences. The character I had the most difficulty believing in was the villain, who definitely seemed out of a Disney film in the sense that she was evil without any real motive. People at school pick on him. I just didn’t enjoy it, the plot ale too fast and I ended up skipping most of the second half of it. Bookyurt Curl up with a good book.

It was such an enjoyable read and I don’t think it should be taken as seriously as I’ve seen others mentioning. She included a directory of the fairy tales she used at the end of the novel as well as a listing for the Sur La Lune Fairy Tales website, which has much more detailed information and this I unabashedly love her for!!

And you know how I love that series so it definitely helped. Also, take good care of your shoes. It was published on September 15, Meg rolls her own brown eyes.

When the two meet, they begin to solve the mystery of why each is there. If so do you have to read one to understand another or can you read whichever whenever without missing parts of the story? Flinn’s Mirrored is a retelling of Snow White[20] set in Miami Florida coaked the s and the present flinn. Princess Victoriana is like the shoes she wears — not very practical, but beautiful. It is a retelling of the fairy tale Beauty and the Beast set in modern-day New York City from the view of coaked beast.

No one else would think of shoes at a time like this. I can sum it up in three words: How can they blend so seamlessly into the plant life of the Florida Keys if their fur is so dark?

Cloaked – a YA novel by Alex Flinn

It contains nothing that would make me consider this for older audiences and Cloked think it could actually be read to people of all ages.

I vowed not to take the book too seriously and just to go with where it would take me given the constant reference to its nature. However, Johnny’s deal with the Princess Victoriana ticked me off.

I actually am quite familiar with some of them. Adrian had also made a deal with Kendra, and because of which, Will regains his sight and Magda is allowed to return to her family.

The catch with magical realism, is you have to pull the reader in and make said magic believable. The prince and princess spoke in the most annoying accent where every other word started with the letter z. I recognized the obvious one of the shoemaker. I felt like it was a never ending goose chase with no depth, no character development, and above all I gape at her.

I don’t like The Prince here. Same beloved fairytales just made for a slightly older audience! Johnny takes chances that he would never have imagined before, he learns more about who he really is and figures out that nothing is ever as it seems.

His face is dirty and stained with deer’s blood. View all 37 comments. He never did what he was supposed to. How can you not like a character like that? Like Bewitching, it deals with the witch, Kendra. The Swan Lake reference with the talking swans did not go by unnoticed. The main character, Johnny, was actually stupid. I’m after the quest… take a chance having an adventure and hopefully Johnny gets on the right senses to truly love someone.

To me, as a reader, it’s clear who the fox will turn out to be as soon as he shows up, but I can’t hold it against Johnny for not realizing sooner.
